The FA denied it had paid part of Peter Reid's salary when he was the Thai national coach and said it would not be subsidising his successor.

Reid (pictured) stood down from the job on Sept. 9 after less than a year in charge to take up an assistant role at Premier League club Stoke City.

The Thai FA said on Friday that another former England midfielder, Bryan Robson, had "agreed in principle" to take over the job but all his salary would be paid by his new employer.

FA director of communications Adrian Bevington told Reuters on Saturday that the FA "categorically denies paying any of Peter Reid's salary while he was manager of Thailand.

"The FA will also not be paying any part of any successor."

Recent media reports had suggested the FA had paid part of Reid's salary.
