The addition of a whopping seven minutes of added time in Manchester United's derby win over City at the weekend served mainly to give conspiracy theorists yet more ammunition in their assault on the Premier League champions.

rilez is correct...should play till whistle is blow...even in the game when you indicate the handball it not mean anything if the ref not blowing the whistle..follow the rule..and man city not yet the ruler....go man utd
Man utd were the better team, but that's not the point. The referee allowed himself to bullied by the atmosphere of Old Trafford, by giving a bad free-kick for the 3-2 goal and the last free-kick, that lead to the winner. At least twice man city headed the ball away in the final seconds which meant the attack had effectively stopped and the whistle should have been blown. The time keeping for injury time should be taken away from referees, because this referee was two seconds over time.

To RAFAise this issue, lets look at the FACTS!!!!!!!
*Fourth official Alan Wiley indicates a minimum four minutes added time.
*Under Premier League rules, the referee can play four minutes plus 59 seconds.
*City score an equaliser – the referee, Martin Atkinson, can add 60 seconds for celebration and restart (Hughes admits it took 45 seconds for play to resume).
*United's Anderson is replaced by Michael Carrick – the referee can add 30 seconds for a substitution.
*In these circumstances, Atkinson is entitled to add two minutes, 29 seconds to the original four minutes.
*Substitute Michael Owen scores for United to win the game on 95 minutes, 25 seconds – well within the allotted time.
there was no stopping man city going up the other end and snatching a late winner was there!! while city were concentrating on the clock and hoping for the whistle to blow, man utd were getting on with the job to win a game of football.......come on city fans,, even tho u didnt win u gotta take some posotives out of that game. ur neighbours will be well and truely lookin over there shoulders now
By far he best Early Doors in a long, long time
"The addition of a whopping seven minutes of added time"
What game was you watching?
to #7 - RE: it was delt with by MOTD, HA @#$% HA, so next time theres a problem MOTD presenters are the ones to go to coz they deal with it, even using there methods the whistle still should have been blown 1 second before the ball crossed the line, on football focus on sat morning they showed an incident in a game where literally 1 second before the ball went over the line the ref blew his whistle for half time! i was a neutral for this match and the fact there was so long added, and proberly not for the last time for man u, overshadowed what was a great game to watch
its always the case when you go to old trafford, you play against 12 men all the time.
too hung up to write anything else??
Or yahoo did you, ED??
2nd
It was dealt with on MOTD. He should have allowed 95' 26 seconds. The goal was scored on 95' 27 seconds. Get over it!
whats this rubbish?
yeehaa!
I don't support either team, but you have to admot, seven minutes is excessive.
Play to the whistle you blue noses, LMAO!!!!
glory glory man united..the biggest club beats the 'little club' glory glory man united ....
