Fernando Torres is our player of the week after his two goal performance at West Ham but it was weekend to forget for the Ferdinand brothers.
HOW IT WORKS
We take marks out of 10 awarded to Premier League players from a selection of six national newspapers - The Sun, Daily Star, Daily Mirror, Daily Mail, The Times and the Guardian - then create an average and round to the nearest half. The top player in each position will be rewarded with a spot in the team of the week, while the worst scorers will be named and shamed in our Flops XI.
TEAM OF THE WEEK
Torres scored two fantastic goals in Liverpool's 3-2 win at West Ham and he is part of a three-man attack with fellow two-goal hero Louis Saha and Birmingham's Christian 'Chucho' Benitez , who had the press box buzzing after his full debut at Hull. Craig Bellamy and Didier Drogba both just miss out.
In midfield, Manchester United duo Ryan Giggs and Darren Fletcher are joined by Burnley's Wade Elliot, while another two goal star - Arsenal's Thomas Vermaelen - leads a back line that is flanked by both Chelsea full-backs.
Shay Given remarkably makes the team despite shipping four goals at Old Trafford which just illustrates how under the cosh City were in the derby.
Team of the week (4-3-3):
GK: Shay Given (Manchester City) - 8
RB: Jose Bosingwa (Chelsea) - 7.5
CB: Thomas Vermaelen (Arsenal) - 8.5
CB: Sylvain Distin (Everton) - 8.0
LB: Ashley Cole (Chelsea) - 8.0
RM: Wade Elliot (Burnley) - 7.5
CM: Darren Fletcher (Manchester United ) - 7.5
LM: Ryan Giggs (Manchester United) - 8.5
FW: Fernando Torres (Liverpool) - 9.0
FW: Louis Saha (Everton) - 8.5
FW: Christian Benitez (Birmingham) - 8.5
FLOPS OF THE WEEK
It was a bad weekend for Rio and Anton Ferdinand as thebrothers were both responsible for goals in their respective games. Rio gave the ball away and was then burned for pace by Craig Bellamy in the Manchester derby while Sunderland man Anton gave away a cheap penalty at Burnley.
Ben Foster also pays for his errors at Old Trafford as he goes in between the sticks while Bolton's scrappy 1-1 draw at home to Stoke failed to impress and three players from that match make the team.
Flops of the week (4-4-2):
GK: Ben Foster (Manchester United) - 4.0
RB: Vedran Corluka (Tottenham) - 4.0
CB: Rio Ferdinand (Manchester United) - 5.0
CB: Anton Ferdinand (Sunderland) - 5.0
LB. Danny Collins (Stoke) - 4.0
RM: Gretar Steinsson (Bolton) - 4.5
CM: Fabrice Muamba (Bolton) - 4.5
LM: Clint Dempsey (Fulham) - 4.5
FW: Hugo Rodallega (Wigan) - 4.5
FW: Jason Roberts (Blackburn) - 5.0
TEAM OF THE SEASON (Minimum three starts)
Hull City's Geovanni is the perhaps the most surprising name in the team of the season so far as right midfielders up and down the country fail to perform consistently well.
Chelsea and Manchester City both provide three players apiece while the evergreen Ryan Giggs joins team-mate Darren Fletcher in the side thanks to his superb performance in the Manchester derby.
Thomas Vermaelen also leads the team of the season backline, proving how impressive he has been since signing from Ajax.
Team of the Season (4-4-2)
GK: Shay Given (Manchester City) - 7.33
RB: Glen Johnson (Liverpool) - 6.89
CB: Thomas Vermaelen (Arsenal) - 7.20
CB: John Terry (Chelsea) - 6.78
LB: Ashley Cole (Chelsea) - 7.00
RM: Geovanni (Hull) - 6.75
CM: Darren Fletcher (Manchester United) - 7.60
CM: Gareth Barry (Manchester City) - 7.40
LM: Ryan Giggs (Manchester United) - 7.25
FW: Emmanuel Adebayor (Manchester City) - 7.67
FW: Didier Drogba (Chelsea) - 7.61
FLOPS OF THE SEASON (Minimum three starts)
Bottom club Portsmouth provide three players in the flops XI while Niko Kranjcar also features due to his Pompey form. He is still waiting for his first Spurs start.
Chelsea may be unbeaten at the top of the table but John Obi Mikel is clearly not the reason why as he takes his place in midfield.
A former Chelsea man, Tottenham's Carlo Cudicini, is the team's goalkeeper, and two misfiring former England internationals lead the front-line.
Flops of the Season (4-4-2)
GK: Carlo Cudicini (Tottenham) - 5.17
RB: Anthony Vanden Borre (Portsmouth) - 5.22
CB: Emerson Boyce (Wigan Atheltic) - 5.33
CB: Marc Wilson (Portsmouth) - 5.11
LB: Danny Collins (Stoke City) - 5.73
RM: Johan Elmander (Bolton) - 5.56
CM: John Obi Mikel (Chelsea) - 5.66
CM: Hayden Mullins (Portsmouth) - 5.50
LM: Niko Kranjcar (Tottenham) - 5.75
FW: James Beattie (Stoke) - 5.33
FW: Andrew Johnson (Fulham) - 5.33

Kudos Torres, you are my player for the week.Up Liverpool
kudos to Darren Fletcher.....he's ma man and the player of the week.
rooney must be in the team of the season except u guyz are jst anti-manutd or anti-rooney,he is also the highest goal scorer so put aside ur biases and make a better team.
to #74 joe...added time is correct even the other ref also agree with it..that why next dont waste so many time to celebrate your goal..cause it will cause you later....see that why it happen..even hughes also noticed it...what a silly comment
to all Lick Foot Club fan..this performance base on the week played not that consistent...did player rating made base on player consistency in one match..this is not season best player...Lick Foot Club scare the other club have player better than their player...and as a striker it your duty to score a goal and if you unable to do so u r not a striker but a joker...and vermaelen is defender he defend the goal from opponent which they deliberated it well cause they did not conceded a goal that match..but Lick Foot Club conceded 2 goal that day r torres there to help the defender to defend their goal..and that why vermaelen better than torres..he score and defend that what we call brilliant..one player can accomplish 2 job at once...just another stupid Licking Foot Club fan
This week "team of the week" can beat Real Madrid easily.

Torres was brilliant
UTD as Liverpool have real defensive issues
UTD foster and Ferdinand obviously have little communication skills. Ferdinand needs to be reminded you don't prat around with show off passing in his position. This is not the first blunder for foster.
Givens was probably man of the match both sets of defenders were woeful.
Tevez should have scored Owen did that was the difference.
Chelsea lucky to not get a penalty awarded against them this was the turning point.
The league looks likely to end up with the big 4 again competing.
The real reason Hughes looked miffed was the realization his million dollar team looked and were second best to UTD and seem unlikely to break the top four this season. Hughes A much loved man with UTD fans during his playing days and admired for his management at Blackburn should try and be less arrogant sure its nice to be able to pay double for a player just to wind up ferrgie but to stick goading up posters, Its time to grow up Hughes it impresses no one and makes you look a fool.
Torres was simply brilliant this match.
actually the time added on, were faar too long in the first place, cos there never was any injury to any players, so where the 4 xtra minutes came from? and the other 3??? nough said.

Gareth Barry, and Dabirson Geovanni, should not be part of "Team of the Season." Wayne Rooney, and Aaron Lennon, should replace these two. Make it a 4-3-3. The goalkeeper, and the defense is OK. Put Lennon as a right-winger, Giggs as a left-winger, and leave Fletcher as a Center-Midfielder, Put Adebayor, Rooney, and Drogba, as strikers. That would be a Dream Team.
Waoh am loving this, last week it was benayoun and this week it's torres!up liverpool.wap naija@9jawapp.wapka.mobi
