The Cameroon international was stretchered off in a neck brace after falling awkwardly during Spurs' defeat to Chelsea on Sunday

There were initial fears that the former Newcastle man had suffered serious injury and although he is set to undergo further tests at Spurs Lodge, it appears the early signs are positive.

"Sebastien Bassong was back at Spurs Lodge today for further assessment after being given the all-clear by a Head and Neck consultant at a hospital on Sunday evening," read a statement on Spurs' official website.

"The Cameroon international centre-half was stretchered off after suffering a head injury in the second-half of our fixture against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge."

Tottenham are awaiting reports on Bassong's defensive partner Ledley King who pulled up sharply with a leg problem.

The statement continued: "Ledley King will undergo a scan on his right hamstring after also being forced off with injury early on in the second half yesterday afternoon."
