Germany goalkeeper Robert Enke has been ruled out of their remaining 2010 World Cup qualifiers due to the lingering effects of a stomach infection.

Enke had been picked to play in the last three matches but pulled out of the Azerbaijan game 12 days ago due to illness and had to undergo several tests to identify the infection.

Germany are top of Group Four, a point ahead of Russia whom they play in Moscow on Oct. 10. Their last match will be against Finland four days later.

"Robert will only train lightly in the coming weeks following advice from doctors and must also take antibiotics," Loew said.

"This means that he will not be fully fit by the time of the qualifiers in October and cannot play."

Enke is competing with Tim Wiese, Rene Adler and Manuel Neuer for Germany's number one spot.
