City set for Bellamy setback?

Mon, 21 Sep 18:26:58 2009

Manchester City look set to be hit with a second charge of improper conduct by one of their strikers following Craig Bellamy's clash with a pitch invader.

The Football Association launched an investigation into the Wales international's confrontation with a fan who invaded the Old Trafford pitch during Sunday's highly-charged Manchester derby.

City are already fighting one FA charge following Emmanuel Adebayor's goal celebration against his former side Arsenal, and are likely to be told tomorrow that Bellamy will face a similar charge.

It is understood that Bellamy's action in marching some distance towards the supporter, who had already been tackled by stewards, and shoving a hand in his face is viewed as being extremely provocative by disicplinary officials.

An FA spokesman said: "We are investigating the incident and we will be looking at the referee's match report."

FA officials have already seen TV footage of the incident, which is also being investigated by Greater Manchester Police.

  2. So much for a wealth of striking talent. If Bellamy is charged, who's left to lead the line that isn't banned or injured?? Sparky will have to find his old shooting boots - and quick!

  3. City fans grow up when you want to play with the big boys the days of fines are over remember your drugie got a fine Ferdi same thing got 8 month ban rooney got a 3 match ban for blowing a kiss at ben haim and Evera for warming down so stop moaning and get use to it the price you pay if you want to become a big club.

  4. Why do so many supporters always look to what other people have done, and then claim that we are being unfairly treated. The Bellamy incident has nothing to do with anything else. In the light of the Adebayor stupidity last week and all that followed, Bellamy is a complete idiot, a total moron, who can have absolutely nothing between his ears. Great game that he had Hughes should fine him the maximum straight away and pray that he isn't banned thereby imposing another self inflicted wound upon us.

Man City will not win anything this year or next. As with Chelsea, you cannot buy success. They have an air of arrogance beyond their capability. Too cocky by far and they will will nothing !!!!!

  6. Just more of the City "witch hunt" that is going on with the FA, FIFA and the 'baying' media tabloids. I suppose we should be flattered really that they are all in such a panic over the potential success of City - shows they are considering us a serious threat to their cozy cartel and will try to stop us by any means possible. I'll let you into a secret though - they'll fail big time, there is no stopping us now!

Just because Man City are full of tough guys who think they have a point to prove. Why don't they just take the chips of there shoulders instead. Oh and Bellamy slapped a bloke while he was being held by 4 people, if you did that on the street it would be classed as common assault.
Still the little club of the city!

  14. What are they going to do about Gary Neville? Nothing? Van persie ran at City's fans to celebrate. No Action. City player hit with a coin at Old Trafford? Nothing. Arsenal's fans injure a steward. Not a dickie bird.
By all means hit City players for whatever misdemeanours they commit but I'm starting to get a bit paranoid about the FA's lack of even handedness over the last few weeks.
FA OR REF OR PERHAPS BBC nobody likes a challenge to the normal perhaps they should look at the dictators of the last century to see the oppressive nature they had!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  15. It takes a 100 years to be a great club, not a hundred million quid ( referring to Man City and Chelsea), or a hundred minutes of football. I dont make the rules thats just the way it is. In City's defence they are a far bigger club than Chelsea and will eventually become eligible for star treatment only after a few decades of success.
