Clough lauds Leacock return

Derby boss Nigel Clough insists the return to fitness of Dean Leacock is a huge boost.

The centre-half made his first senior start for 10 months following a torrid time with groin and pelvic problems in Saturday's 1-0 defeat at Crystal palace.

"Dean will make a big difference for us. He was very commanding and we have been missing that. I thought he showed in the first hour or so before he got tired how commanding he can be," said Clough.

Leacock was replaced by Shaun Barker after 77 minutes at Selhurst Park.

Clough added: "It was always going to catch up with him because it was his first proper outing for 10 months. He's now got a week's rest to be ready for Bristol City."
