Accrington chief John Coleman bemoaned his side's inconsistency after they slumped to a 2-0 loss at Hereford.
Stanley had won their previous three games in all competitions but it was second-bottom Hereford who notched their first victory in 16 league matches after goals from Craig King and Ryan Valentine.
A frustrated Coleman told the Lancashire Telegraph: "We were playing against a team who were struggling and we gave them a leg up.
"It is frustrating after our recent results, but that's plagued us for the last three years.
"We're so inconsistent it's untrue. You don't know what you're going to get out of people."
