The Football Association have launched an investigation into Craig Bellamy's confrontation with a fan who invaded the Old Trafford pitch.
Bellamy walked towards the supporter, who had been tackled by stewards, and shoved a hand in his face before the fan was led away during Sunday's highly-charged Manchester derby.
An FA spokesman said: "We are investigating the incident and we will be looking at the referee's match report."
Disciplinary officials have already seen TV footage of the incident and Greater Manchester Police have charged the man with unlawfully running onto the pitch.
Neither the fan nor the Wales international forward have made a complaint to police about the clash but the supporter will appear in court later this month over the pitch encroachment.
A Greater Manchester Police spokeswoman said: "A man has been charged following an incident at the end of the match between Manchester United and Manchester City at Old Trafford. Jake Joseph Clarke, 21, is charged with going onto a playing area without lawful authority or excuse and will appear before Trafford Magistrates' Court on September 30."
Manchester United could also be in trouble after City substitute Javier Garrido was struck on the head by a coin as he headed down the tunnel at half-time.
The FA are also investigating a clash between Blackburn player El Hadji Diouf and a ball boy at Everton on Sunday.
Diouf was interviewed by police in a private room at Goodison Park an hour after Sunday's match after allegedly using racist abuse towards the ball boy.
An FA spokesman added: "We are aware of the incident and are awaiting reports from the match official. We will also be speaking with the police to establish what their inquiries are in the matter."

To Jack C, I will have your season ticket although I imagine it will be in the girls section. Get a life.
What is the problem! There were celebrations for two goals, and a substitution after the ninety minutes which were then added to the original extra four minutes. If City had scored in that time, would Hughes be bleating about the timekeeping then?
FA should look into the complaints that referee added too much time in favor of ManUnt who had a better opportunity to score on their field. Similarly ManUnt an fans' hostility toward past player (tevez) must be investigated. Drogba has suffered a punishment for returning a coin that was balled "bullet" toward a fan. Here a bullet intended for Tevez wounded another player. Fa should consider banning all games at Traford until fans and ManUnt restore safe field for football. I am ready to give away my season tickets for the sake of and in quest for a civilized and ordered games.

Good, two mzatch ban minimum and thirty match ban for Yosser Hughes for being a sore loser and comparing Bellamy to Brian Clough Knobhead. Come January Hughes will be true to form GIZZA JOB.
