All the goals arrived in a frantic final six minutes.

Darlington captain Steve Foster went close to breaking the deadlock in the 14th minute when he found himself free inside the penalty area, but his shot, from a Billy Clarke through ball, was blazed over the crossbar.

Bradford's best chance of the first half fell to former Darlington loanee Joe Colbeck, who darted into the area and then fired across the face of the goal in the 23rd minute.

The game came to life late on when Neil Austin broke the deadlock for the home side, his 25-yard free-kick flying into the back of the net past City keeper Rhys Evans.

The goal looked enough to earn Darlington all three points; but the visitors had other plans.

Substitute Omar Daley raced in from the left flank a minute later and fired low from the edge of the area. The ball squirmed under Darlington keeper Simon Brown to level the scores.

As the game moved into the final minute, home midfielder Rob Purdie crossed from the right onto the path of Burgmeier (pictured), who - with a bullet header from eight yards - gave Evans no chance and Bradford no way back into the game.
