France international defender Gael Givet could be set to leave Marseille after it emerged he refused to travel to Valenciennes at the weekend.

L'OM beat the Ligue 1 strugglers 3-1 to put the pressure on league leaders Lyon.

The 27-year-old has not figured under coach Eric Gerets this season and cited "personal problems" for his decision to stay away.

The club are understood to have accepted his reason but want his situation resolved as quickly as possible.

Givet, formerly of Monaco, can play at left-back and centre-half and has 12 caps for Les Bleus.
