The FA will study Didier Drogba's comments in his autobiography saying he wished he had punched Nemanja Vidic in the Champions League final.
The Chelsea striker was sent off in the final in May for slapping the Manchester United defender - and said in his book he now wishes he had punched Vidic.
The FA take a dim view of current players making such comments in books, and will study the remark and the whole book to see whether Drogba may have brought the game into disrepute.
An FA spokesman said: "We are aware of the comments and will be examining them in their proper context."
It is understood the FA are not viewing it in the same light as Roy Keane's book, in which the former United skipper said he had deliberately injured Alf Inge Haaland.
Back in 2002, Keane was banned for five games and fined £150,000 by the FA but similar disciplinary action is unlikely to be taken against Drogba - who may simply be warned that his comments are unwelcome.
Drogba wrote: "I have seen the match on video and I believe I should not have been sent off with three minutes to go.
"If I had punched him, I would have understood. Now I wish I had."
In Keane's case, his autobiography said his challenge on Haaland was an act of revenge for the Norwegian accusing him of feigning injury three years before when he had actually ruptured his cruciate knee ligament.
Keane wrote: "I'd waited long enough. I f****** hit him hard. The ball was there (I think). Take that you ****."
Later editions featured a toned-down version of the quote.

YOULL'LL NEVER WALK ALONE....BUT WITHOUT THROPHIES I SEE YOU WALK ALONE.
Rmember J terry crying at the end of the game LOL
To all you complaining about looks and who's ugly and who's not, who gives a @#$%? This is football, the beautiful game. If you want to be gay then go do it somewhere away from a football forum, unless you're a woman lol. As long as the game is entertaining, who cares about how the players look. I am Serbian, and support Manchester United coz the first football match I ever attended was at Old Trafford. I laughed when I saw Drogba slap Vidic, coz I knew Vidic wouldn't sink as low as a slap. He's not stupid enough to risk his career and reputation by sinking as low as that, although I'm glad he didn't get the chance to retaliate. I hate Drogba for his diving, and I dislike C Ronaldo for his diving, but to a lesser extent coz he plays for the club I support. But you have to agree that in a fight between Drogba and Vidic, Vidic would kick his @#$%. Now Vidic and Terry would be a fight worth watching, but hopefully it never happens, coz they're both great players. And btw, Anelka missed the penalty that would've kept Chelsea in the match, Terry just missed the penalty that would've won them the game.
i am sorry for drogba, little education no decorum
I was very disppointed with Drogba for being sent off the pitch for a slap, honestly it would have been more exciting and worth it had it been a punch.
DROGBA SHOULD PUNCH VIDIC IWOULD PAY TO SEE THE BIG FAIRY DO IT NO BOTTLE NO GUTS CHELSEA ALL OVER BIG GOBS THE LOT OF THEM
Please don't post till you can at least understand English. I'm looking forward to the wee red dwarf squirming after his side of tims suffer utter humiliation to-night.

I THINK SOME PEOPLE ONLY WATCH FOOTBALL TO SEE GOALS AND WHO SCORED. FR ME I THINK THAT DROGBA PLAYED BETTER,BUT IMMEDIATELY HE GOT THE RED CARD THINGS CHANGE FOR THE TEAM ESPECIALLY DURING THE PENATY SHOOT OUT.AND DROGBA COMMENT FR ME I SEE IT AS IF HE WNT TO EXPRESS TO THE WHOLE WORLD THAT PUNCHING HIS OPPONENT WOULD HAVE BETTER FOR HIM GETTING THE CARD THN JUST PUSHUNG HIM.ANYWAY I KNOW TH IT CAANT HAPEN TO MY DARLING TEAM THE ARSENAL.
let us not look at the past and wish to change it , we all know that Chelsea did play weel that night in Moscow , we deserved to win but lady luck was with fucken Fergie and his boyz ,so cool down Drogba we are doing good so far keep the momentam up and we shall win all on offer this season , let us keep focused Moscow is a pain in all our hearts ,let us look to the future and hope for the best , Obrigado big PHILL SCOLARI you have done a good job this far !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!11
man u 4 life.....
vidic would deal with drogba.if keane gets punished for something in his book then so should drogba
I wonder how long ronaldo will stay at old trafford????? chelsea is in top form right now, it seem there is no one that can stop them. it's not me that talking, it's the result!!!!! just look at the league table then tell me what did u see?? there is one thing surely i think u'll see, just set ur head and look upper. if you look lower, you'll surely see spurs at the bottom, helplessly!!!
i guess the prem FA keeps busy, investigating a coin thrown at a linesman, and now investigating an act we all saw on tv last season! it beats my immagination how far they will go after inconsequentialities while more serious matters of huge clubs indebtedness, unregulated club spending/takeover, the Newcastle/west ham immbrolgio etc are simply ignored as inconsequential
arrogant Drogba is not a good player. poor finish. he will not succeed anymore..
there is nothing wrong with drogba comment coz he know that he doesnt deserved to be red carded. to mu fan, if you want to questioning drogba comment, just look at ur ex old player that ferguson call his best signing ever (ROY KEANE). his comment is definitely showing that he is lack of respect n sanity. he openly said that is was a revenge. shame on you keane!!!! it's a right thing that you're thrown out of man u!! you're a disgrace to the english football.
