So who was the dummy that asked Alex Ferguson for his reaction to his FA charge?
The first rule of attending a press conference chaired by the Manchester United overlord is that under no circumstances do you ask him anything, repeat ANYTHING that could possibly, vaguely, sort of rile him a little bit.
But some inquisitive buffoon nevertheless decided - in error - that a question-and-answer session constituted a legitimate opportunity to ask him, you know, a question.
"Silly question, doesn't get answer... good night," rightly responded a harrumphing Fergie, consigning said journo to a status within the press corps comparable to that enjoyed in Liverpool by the scally who chucked the beach ball.
And what of the Reds' sudden demise? If there's one man qualified to assess the failings within Rafael Benitez's crumbling empire, it is Graeme Souness - a man with such foresight that, during his own spell as manager, he thought it would be a good idea to give an exclusive interview to The Sun.
"There was no spark without Fernando Torres and Steven Gerrard," he said in his role as pundit on Sky. "It was plod, plod, plod. He has signed 67 players but if he is missing two or three it doesn't look anything like a team that can win big games."
Paper Round won't even get into the signings he brought to Merseyside.
The latest twist in the Emile Heskey transfer saga is speculation linking Blackburn with a move for the out-of-favour Aston Villa striker, or as the papers put it a "World Cup lifeline".
Rovers are worried that Chelsea will recall Franco di Santo in January and, with £6m Croat Nikola Kalinic struggling to settle, big Emile could be just the ticket to top-class route one football at Ewood Park.
The Blues are in for Ghana's U20 World Cup star Dominic Adiyiah - if their transfer ban is lifted. He is rated at £4.5m.
Arsenal are looking at Ajax right-back Gregory van der Wiel, a Netherlands international who would cost £7m. If he's anywhere near as good as summer signing from the Amsterdam outfit Thomas Vermaelen, they should snap him up. Atletico Madrid and Barcelona are also interested.
North London rivals Tottenham are to move for Internacional's £14m Brazilian star Sandro, with Barca again linked as well as Real Madrid.
Birmingham manager Alex McLeish is expected to spend £3m of his £40m pot in January on Spurs flop Gareth Bale, who has only won a single league game for the club - and that recently, as a late substitute.
Now that Paddy Kenny's appeal against a long-term ban has been thrown out, Sheffield United will sign on-loan Blackburn keeper Mark Bunn on a permanent basis.
The Sun screams that Harry Redknapp is to "read the riot act" to Peter Crouch and Jonathan Woodgate after their trip to a nightclub at the weekend. Their source is quoted: "Harry is very annoyed; he will quiz them about it." They must be shaking in their boots.
An unhappy man at present is Martin Allen, placed on gardening leave by Cheltenham after an alleged racist slur directed at a bouncer. Gloucestershire Police are to investigate the claim.
"I wish to confirm these allegations are untrue and deeply hurtful to me - and I will now be taking appropriate steps to clear my name," the boss said.
The ref who sent off Nottingham Forest injury-time game-winner Guy Moussi for celebrating has apologised. Nigel Miller showed the Frenchman a second yellow card as he ran to fans at the City Ground after scoring against Barnsley.
"The ref said sorry afterwards, but the rules gave him no option," Forest boss Billy Davies said. "It must be the most pathetic regulation ever, penalising a player for two or three seconds of pure emotion."
It was Moussi's first goal for the club.
Crystal Palace manager Neil Warnock has accused the officials overseeing his side's game against Leicester of... who cares, Neil?

Eeeeup trousers, kept feeling that was the type, beyond that I'm speechful.
Good ole Furby
@redgeoff (comment 7): Now why do I feel you are a Man United fan? Your whole comment is littered with utter rubbish! The guy only asked him what he felt about the charge. Its a valid question as it is a current topic. He didn't ask him how many youth team players he has been fiddling with this week!
The trouble is that Ferguson and Manchester United think that they are above every other manager and club and whilst their recent dominance would seem to back this up, its never healthy to get too arrogant, as it is a long way to fall. You say in the comment that the journalist should be banned for a year from press conferences!! Come on, don't you think that is a little excessive for asking a simple question?! I mean, he didn't ask him what side of the bed Ronaldo slept on while they were together!!
Personally, I say, freedom of speech (which you also harp on about) goes for the journalists too.
And if one Ayatollah should accidently fall...
There will be no more Fergusons hanging on the wall :-)
So now you can't ask Fergie a question? Whats the world coming to when a Manager of a football team can generate this much animosity? He may be a good manager, blah blah blah, but now he controls the timing of games and press conferences. About time the old fart was put out to pasture. with the monetyand players at the club, a new managers got as much chance as anyone of keeping them up there at the top, so players, referee's, the press and anyone else connected, stop letting this old piss head call the tune, he's just a manager, not a head of state for christ sakes. If Heskey played in the 2nd division he still could'nt score. Good luck Villa, trying to unload that donkey, West Ham had the same with Harewood, he needed fifteen attempts to score then lived off the goal for another three months.Send Crouch and the snivveling deserting little rat Defoe. Take a chance on Rooney that he doesn't get injured or sent off. Take Micheal Owen only if you have plenty of thigh strain cream. What a bloody shambles.
(invalid comment?) lmao, swivel!!
Ferguson - once a diva, always a diva.
I think the reporter that asked the question will go down in folklore just behind the guy who threw the show at George W Bush...
Best thing SAF could do is find out what paper the guy worked for and ban them from press conferences. Alternatively he could find out what paper he worked for and refuse to let the paper access the great himself and all his little boy players.
The best thing the press could do on the other hand is stop going to SAF press conferences and stop reporting on the grerat himself and his little boy players.
Either way the less publicity i see for the great himself, his little boy players and the club he's supposed to represent the better
Whats wrong with a simple question that the world wants an answer for???? And why does Fergie think it is Silly???? Its a simple question....He could have simply put "No Comments....we are here to discuss champions league match...." But no....he had to show that he can say anything to anyone....he doesnt have any respect left for anyone these days....he's turning into such a disgrace of a person....
Fergie, take my advise, please retire by ur own will, before u end up head-butting a referee or a journalist, and ending a gr8 career in disgrace, just like zidane did....
Why doesn't the miserable old git give all the journalist who are deemed worthy of being in his presence a list of the questions he WILL answer, or better still give them a list of the questions AND his answers then he doesn't even need to turn up. He looked as though he didn't want to be there anyway.

well done Sir Fergie the idiotic pressman should have known better his employers should sack him
Thats it now,Fergie will get the Journalist who asked the question banned from all press conferences in future, the way he did the newspaper who dared to ask him an embarreassing question, the mans pathetic,he can give but he can't take it,he makes a fool of himself every week in my opinion !!
Good on you Fergie, the press think they have a right to ask anything they like! They don't and they need to be put in their place at every opportunity. Keep on giving them @#$%! The FA charge was expected and the harsh punishment that they will hand out for merely expressing an opinion after a game was long over. What happened to freedom of speech? Fergie has apologised twice and that should be the end of it but it won't be because its Manchester United! Ban this journalist for a season and his newspaper ofTV company! Its time United clamped down on media intrusions.
Oop's I spoke too soon!
Who is Neil Warcock (sounds painful!) I'm sure his name is Neil Warnock!
Well done Mr Symcox, glad to see you changed your mistake's after I kindly pointed them out for you!
Shouldn't that last sentence read " Neil Warnock HAS accused the officials overseeing HIS side's....."
Not "Neil Warnock WAS accussed the officials overseeing HIM side's...."
Poor quality control Jonathan Symcox, come on,call yourself a journalist!
Top-class route one football. Quality. Just what blackburn need.
The journalist would have 1st asked him his idea about the b.i.t.c.h goal and his assessment of the beach referee Mike Jones
