Huddersfield will not be making an offer for Watford left-back Mat Sadler.
The 24-year-old recently had a 10-day trial at the League One club with a view to a potential loan move.
Town manager Lee Clark told the club's official website: "It would have taken him a long time to reach our fitness levels, and we need someone straight away.
"New players have to be better options than we already have, I will not bring players to the club who are at the same sort of level."
