While Citroen recorded a resounding one-two result Sunday afternoon in Ireland, the result was not enough to stop rivals Ford clinching the manufacturers' championship for the second straight year.
For outgoing Citroen boss Gut Frequelin, the result was not a big surprise and one he is relatively comfortable with.
"We knew at the beginning of the year that with the new car and with a young driver like Dani (Sordo) with not so much experience it would be difficult to catch the title for manufacturers; it's not really a big problem for us," Frequelin said. "It is very important now to concentrate on the title for the drivers with Seb and Daniel."
Frequelin was asked about his retirement but this was one topic that the Frenchman was unwilling to talk about ahead of the season finale in Rally Wales GB.
“I don't want to speak about this decision,” he stated. “I would like to stay to the end of the Championship and then we will speak about this at the end of the next rally.”
While Citroen's focus is on Loeb and the drivers' title, Ford is looking to turn it around to make it a double championship success…
