The former Norwegian international had been training with the Dons for some time before being handed a deal until the end of the season on Friday and Di Matteo hinted that he would go straight into the starting line-up.

Winger Luke Chadwick has returned to parent club Norwich after being ruled out for at least two months with a knee injury but Jason Puncheon has extended his stay from Plymouth.

Top scorer Sam Baldock is in contention for a return after training this week following a hamstring injury but utility man Jude Stirling is still out with his knee injury.

Aaron Wilbraham returned as a substitute in the 3-1 win at Hartlepool last weekend after two months out with an ankle injury but Carl Regan (knee) is out.

Winger Florian Sturm remains sidelined with his troublesome groin and Danny Swailes is a long-term absentee as he recovers from Achilles surgery.
