Argyle reject Norris transfer request

Tue 22 Jan, 02:15 PM

Plymouth Argyle have turned down a written transfer request from David Norris as they desperately bid to keep the midfielder away from Ipswich. The Pilgrims want Norris on board for Saturday's FA Cup fourth round tie at Portsmouth and have now confirmed rejecting a written transfer request from the 26-year-old, who still has 18 months left on his current contract at Home Park.

Ipswich boss Jim Magilton has confirmed the Tractor Boys have tabled two bids to sign the highly rated midfielder, the latest believed to be in the region of £1.75 million.

A host of other Championship clubs have also been linked with the player, including Ipswich's East Anglian rivals Norwich, Leicester City - managed by former Argyle boss Ian Holloway - and Southampton, who drew 1-1 with Plymouth at Home Park at the weekend.

However it appears that Plymouth boss Paul Sturrock - who met with his board on Monday to discuss Ipswich's latest bid for Norris - is in no hurry to sell.

Meanwhile, Sturrock will make no comment of "transfer speculation".
