Ipswich striker Dean Bowditch has returned to Portman Road following a two-month loan spell with League One outfit Northampton.The 21-year-old scored twice in seven starts and three substitute appearances for the Cobblers and will now attempt to break into Jim Magilton's first team.

Northampton boss Stuart Gray told the club's official website: "Dean said he wanted to return to Ipswich to fight for a first-team place.

"Of course we thank him for his efforts and wish him well back at Portman Road."

Bowditch has previously had loan spells with Brighton, Wycombe and Burnley since making his Town debut debut five seasons ago.
