Carlos Edwards hopes he will soon be able to give Sunderland a boost as he prepares to play for the reserves against Bradford on Wednesday.Edwards has been missing since breaking his leg against Derby on December 1 and has made just five appearances for the Black Cats all season after an earlier hamstring problem.

Roy Keane told the club's official website: "He's making progress and looking well.

"Believe it or not, the fact he broke his leg might have helped his hamstring. We'll push him over the next week or two."
