Jones open to Cobblers stay

Tue 22 Jan, 03:30 PM

Wolves midfielder Daniel Jones has revealed he would welcome an extension to his current loan deal with Northampton. The 21-year-old scored his third goal for the Cobblers since joining in August during Saturday's 1-0 victory at Gillingham and insists he would be "happy to stay" beyond his current deal, which is set to expire after Friday's visit of Leyton Orient.

He told the club's official website: "My loan is up after Friday's game against Leyton Orient but I'm enjoying my football here and if the manager (Stuart Gray) wants me to stay for a bit longer and Wolves are happy for me to do that then I'm happy to stay."

Jones curled home a 25-yard free-kick at the weekend and the midfielder attributed the effort to some hard work in training.

"I was delighted with my goal. I knew where I wanted to put it and the main thing was just to get it on target. I have been working hard on those in training and it was good to see that work pay off," he added.
