Knight ready for selection fight

Tue 22 Jan, 12:01 PM

Wycombe's new star striker Leon Knight recognises he has to fight to earn a regular starting berth in the Wanderers team. The 25-year-old recently joined the Chairboys from League Two leaders MK Dons for an undisclosed fee and made his third appearance as a substitute in the 1-1 draw with Rotherham on Saturday.

"I didn't expect to come in and automatically get starts because John [Sutton] and Scotty [McGleish] have been doing well and I need another couple of weeks to get match fit," Knight told the club's official website.

"If I come off the bench for 25 minutes here and there and we get promoted, then that's not a problem.

"I'd play anywhere on the pitch at the moment but when I get fully up to match fitness I'm going to have to squeeze in there somewhere."

Top scorer McGleish scored his 15th goal of the season against Rotherham, while Sutton has scored six times in 28 appearances.
