Smith confirms Cousin interest

Tue 22 Jan, 02:00 PM

Rangers manager Walter Smith has confirmed Fulham are interested in signing unsettled striker Daniel Cousin. The 30-year-old Gabonese frontman joined Rangers from French club Lens last August for around £1million and has scored eight goals in 17 SPL matches.

"We've had an enquiry from Fulham," said Smith.

"We've turned that down and there's been nothing else since then."

Fulham were reported to have made a bid of around £2million for Cousin, and it has been suggested the summer recruit has a clause in his contract allowing him to leave for £3million.

"I don't get involved in that aspect of things," Smith said. "If there is a clause we've not reached that level yet."

Cousin's agent, Willie McKay, has claimed the striker is keen on a move to the English Premier League.

Reports on Tuesday claimed Tottenham were set to revive their bid for Alan Hutton, who was the subject of an offer of around £8million earlier this month.

Hutton turned down the chance to leave Rangers, and Smith insisted there have been no fresh developments.

"There's nothing on that one, nothing has changed," said the Rangers boss.
