Hull boss Phil Brown hopes to sign Sunderland right-back Stephen Wright on a permanent deal when the squad return from Dubai later this week. The Tigers are taking advantage of a break in the fixtures - they have no game this weekend - to get some welcome respite from the wintry weather, with Brown desperately trying to sign new players.
Wright, 27, has been told he is free to leave the Black Cats and Brown is hopeful of adding to his ranks before the home clash with Coventry next Tuesday.
"We are talking with Stephen with regards to a permanent deal," Brown told the Hull Daily Mail.
"Unfortunately, we couldn't make it in time for the Colchester game [last Saturday] but we'll get back and sit down with him in the near future.
"I would say our chances of bringing in a new player before the Coventry game were quite high. We were hoping that one or two could have come out with us this week but we will come back on the 24th and look to do some business."
