Premier League - Ghaly completes Saudi switch

Eurosport - Thu, 22 Jan 15:05:00 2009

Hossam Ghaly's Tottenham nightmare has come to an end after he joined Saudi Arabian club Al Nasar.

FOOTBALL Tottenham Derby Ghaly - 0

The Egypt midfielder, 27, joined Spurs from Feyenoord in 2006 and was an integral part of Martin Jol's midfield.

But after he was substituted during a Premier League match against Blackburn 18 months ago he threw his shirt at the Dutch coach and never played for the club again.

Ghaly went on loan to Derby last season and was expected to leave the club.

He was given a squad number by new boss Harry Redknapp but was booed by Spurs fans while warming up for an FA Cup match against Wigan on January 2, leading the former Portsmouth manager to admit the player could not play for the club again.

The former Al-Ahly trainee has signed a three-year deal with Al Nasar.

  3. I can understand the frustration that he had during his time there in the Premiership and this is the risk that a lot of the newcomers run on entering the English Soccer League. In the end, there are that many wanting to play their game in England for money reasons, mainly, that there must a lot of internal rivalry going on. I don't blame him for leaving.
