New signing Shannon McDonnell scored two tries to help Hull KR to a 36-18 victory over new-look Hull FC in Sunday's pre-season friendly in front of a 13,937 crowd at the KC Stadium.
Rhys Lovegrove also touched down twice as Rovers gained the early bragging rights, although the victory was marred by injuries to several players.
David Hodgson, Kris Welham and Craig Hall scored other tries for Rovers, who had Scott Murrell deputising at stand-off in the absence of the injured Blake Green. New captain Andy Lynch, one of eight close-season signings making their first appearances for Hull, had given his side an early lead while Tony Martin and youngster Chris Green also scored tries for the hosts.
Rovers' victory was tarnished by the loss of new captain Ben Galea, forward Richard Beaumont and hooker Josh Hodgson through injury, less than a fortnight before their opening Super League match at Leeds.
"It does look like Rich has broken his fibula which is pretty serious," Sandercock said. "It's yet to be confirmed but those are the initial thoughts and he's off to the hospital at the moment.
"Benny has done his medial so again, that's another pretty serious one. We're not quite sure what grade it is yet. We think it's possibly a grade two, which would mean that he'd be sidelined for least a month. Unfortunately, he won't make round one for us and it's obviously a big blow to lose your captain.
"As for Josh, he's strained his ankle but hopefully with a bit of luck he'll be okay for the Leeds game. It will probably be touch and go though."
Wakefield saw off local rivals Castleford 40-20 at the Rapid Solicitors Stadium, where a brace of tries helped Danny Washbrook clinch him the man-of-the-match award. Paul Aiton, Ali Lauitiiti, Ben Cockayne, Vince Mellars, Richard Mathers and Motu Tony also scored tries for the Wildcats, who led 18-0 at half-time.
Brett Ferres, Stuart Jones, Lee Mitchell and Steve Nash were the Tigers' tryscorers.
Elsewhere, Luke Gale scored 20 points in Bradford's 42-16 win over Dewsbury and a young Huddersfield side lost 44-10 to John Kear's Batley.
