Hoult heads for Meadow Lane

Fri 22 Feb, 06:00 PM

Notts County manager Ian McParland has solved his goalkeeping crisis by signing Stoke's Russell Hoult on loan until the end of the season.McParland was forced into the transfer market ahead of the weekend clash with Bradford after first-choice stopper Kevin Pilkington suffered an unspecified injury in training on Friday morning.

With regular back-up Tim Sandercombe also out with a finger injury, McParland faced the possibility of being without a senior goalkeeper against the Bantams.

But - after the Potters completed a move to sign Sunderland's Marton Fulop for the rest of the campaign - Hoult, 35, has stepped into the breach.

Hoult has made more than 400 career appearances for nine clubs and will go straight into the side at Meadow Lane on Saturday.
