Dave Jones concedes they and Sheffield Wednesday are desperately in need of the three points on offer on Saturday for very different reasons.The 11th-placed Bluebirds arrive at Hillsborough bidding to get their play-off bid back on track after a run of three games without a win, while Wednesday are fighting for their lives at the bottom of the Championship.

"Sheffield Wednesday need the points as they are in a real survival fight and we need the points to keep up with the play-off pack," he told the South Wales Echo.

"We need to stay in striking distance because when it come to the last four or five games of the season we need to be in the mix.

"However we do it, we need to hang on in there because teams will have a loss of form, suspensions, injuries and anything can happen in the last month or so of the season.

"You look at the table and the top 12 to 14 clubs are still in with a shout. I don't even think the top two are sorted yet, never mind the play-offs."
