Pulis poised for Pirates return

Fri 22 Feb, 01:01 PM

On-loan midfielder Anthony Pulis returns to contention for Bristol Rovers' home clash against Tranmere on Saturday.Pulis, who is on loan from Stoke, was ineligible for the Pirates' historic FA Cup victory over Southampton having already featured in the competition for his parent club.

But he may have to settle for a place on the bench with first-team coach Paul Trollope likely to keep faith with those players who beat the Championship side 1-0 to book a place in the quarter-finals for the first time in more than 50 years.

Trollope has no new injury or suspension worries, with defenders Ryan Green and Steve Elliott remaining the only absentees.

Full-back Green will have an injection next week in a bid to finally resolve his Achilles problems.

Elliott has resumed light training after a month on the sidelines with a medial knee ligament injury, but it is expected to be around another three weeks before the centre-half returns to action.
