Oxfordshire teenager Bradley Smith topped the timesheets as 125cc testing came to an end in Jerez.

The 17-year-old, who was fastest in the first Jerez test last month and second in Valencia a week later, set a best lap time of 1'47.820, over half a second ahead of Nicolas Terol (Jack & Jones WRB)

Smith, who became the youngest Brit to claim a Moto GP podium place last season, joined the Polaris World Aprilia team at the start of the season.

"It was difficult here because the first two days the rain and wind meant we could not go fast and test how we wanted," explained Smith on his official website.

"Today the conditions were much better and we are really happy with the times. However, we will not get carried away but I now can't wait for that first grand prix of the year in Qatar in two weeks time."

Thomas Luthi (Emmi-Caffe Latte) was quickest in the final 250cc testing session.

The 21 year-old Swiss came out on top with a best time of 1'43.208, on a day in which the riders enjoyed the benefits of a dry track.

Metis Gilera's Marco Simoncelli was just a thousandth of a second slower than Luthi with Alvaro Bautista (Mapfre Aspar) third on the timesheet.

The final testing before March 9's GP opener in Qatar comes next week with the 500cc riders in action at the Losail International circuit on Thursday and Friday while the 250cc and 125cc riders will reconvene for night time testing sessions of their own from March 1-3 at the desert track.
