Germany's Olympic giant slalom champion Viktoria Rebensburg will miss this weekend's World Cup races at the Bulgarian resort of Bansko, organisers said on Wednesday.
Bansko is hosting a women's downhill on Saturday and super-G on Sunday but Rebensberg wants to focus on the two giant slaloms and slalom in Ofterschwang, Germany from March 2-4.
The 22-year-old won the 2011 giant slalom World Cup and is second in this year's standings, 20 points behind France's Tessa Worley.
Germany's hopes in Bansko now rest with reigning overall World Cup champion Maria Hoefl-Riesch, who bagged her 22nd career victory by winning the downhill in Sochi on Saturday.
"Maria wants to keep the momentum and take the leading position again in Bansko," German women's team coach Tom Stauffer told reporters.
