Premier League - Zenit claim Arshavin talks

Wed, 22 Feb 17:47:00 2012

Zenit St Petersburg claim they are in talks with Arsenal over a possible loan deal for Gunners forward Andrey Arshavin.

wenger arshavin - 0

Arshavin has been a bit-part player at Arsenal this year following the arrival of Gervinho and the rise of new signing Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.

The Russian has made most of his 27 appearances this term as a substitute and has fallen out of favour with Arsenal's fans, who booed when he came on for Oxlade-Chamberlain during the club's home defeat to Manchester United.

Zenit general director Maxim Mitrofanov told Russian newspaper Sovietsky Sport that he is hopeful of persuading the 30-year-old to return to the club where he spent 11 years before moving to London.

Mitrofanov said: "We talked with them. Let's see how they themselves continue to lead.

"Andrey still wants to play in England. (But) For Andrey it is very important to play in the Euros and being at a home club would be a good option in the current situation. Therefore, we are discussing the possibility to loan (Arshavin)."

  1. if it is money issue we could raise some funds so we can make sure he goes!!

  2. Ercan yes i consider that alot. It makes sense to get the best out of a player you should aim to play them in their fave positions. However saying that Arshavin has 99% of the time played as a winger for us. When he arrived he had a fine first season in that position, so why can he not continue that general standard? He can play that position and well if he wanted to...the problem is he cant be arsed. Also Ramsey has been playing inbehind the front 3 because he is a deeper lying player, which requires a bit of defending. Arshavin is not really big on defending.

  4. Anyone else considered the reason he is not been playing so well is because he is beingp layed out of position! the real muppet is Wenger!!!!!

  8. I really pity Arsenal FC. They operate as if the club is under liquidation, no visible plans to add to their squad, no replacement for departed players, no experience guys, the list goes on.......... The truth is that the Directors are mere investors, with their eyes fixed on returns to investment. None of them is an Arsenal fan, therefore, no pains whether the club goes down or not. Just a pity!

  13. Im negative about alot of stuff. Arshavin we all know he has class, but i think hes lost it for us. He is not enjoying Arsenal, and hasnt been for a long time. Loan him, only to see him return in summer the same average player hes been for a year now? He needs a fresh start, and we need to fill his position with someone who wants to play for us. Sundays game i think we will lose too. I definitely expect the best performance since the BB game, but I think Tottenham have form and belief. 2 things we are seriously lacking. We could find belief...maybe, but form we havent had all season. Im interested in what happens tomorrow when Stan rocks up. Either it will change the tide for us, or it will remain cloudy with no guarantees. Im thinking Stan will remain silent. Just want to get this week and next over with, then hopefully pull something out the bag to cling on to that 4th place.

From tez, on Thu 23 Feb 4:38
  19. #11 tharr even the yids are only hopeful they could do a double on us. you obviously don't have a clue that football is a game of many ingredients. any experienced football fan will have enough long memories to know that sunday's game is one that arsenal cannot afford to lose. hence the bookies make mugs out of people like you who can't see beyond the surface. still it could indeed be your lucky day but i very much hope not.
we can't afford to lose 15 million on arshavin, so let's hope he is rejuvenated at zenith and come back the good player that he was.

    From sanchez.santos, on Thu 23 Feb 4:36
  20. Yes, that was an amazing performance by Andrei Arshavin, 4 goals against Liverpool...in April 2009, in April 2009, in April 2009, In April 2009.... screen goes wavy as we move forward in time....

....2012 now and 1 Premiership goal this season. AA has lost interest in Arsenal.
