Barca must bounce back - Toure

Sat 22 Mar, 04:45 PM

Yaya Toure has urged his Barcelona team-mates to forget about their Copa del Rey exit when they host Real Valladolid on Sunday. The cup had looked Barcelona's best chance of a trophy this season, but the Catalans lost 3-2 at Valencia in the second leg of their semi-final on Thursday.

Frank Rijkaard's side are also still in the Champions League, but domestic action takes priority this weekend as Barcelona look to keep the pressure on Primera Liga leaders Real Madrid.

And Toure claims the club need to forget their cup disappointment and concentrate on recording their first win in four league games.

"We have a lot of problems and injuries as well, but we have to hold our heads up, forget about the defeat (at Valencia), and concentrate on the competitions we have left," he said.

The Catalans could only draw at Almeria last weekend, having lost to Atletico Madrid and Villarreal in their previous two league fixtures.

But Ivory Coast international Toure believes his side still have a chance of winning the title, despite sitting seven points behind Real Madrid.

"We shouldn't forget that the league is still there to be won, there are quite a few games left (10) and we will do all we can to win them," he said.

Toure has delayed an operation on a troublesome hernia in order to play on until the end of the season.

"I am prepared to play until the end of the season if my body permits it," he said.

Rijkaard still has several key absences for Sunday's match.

Lionel Messi, Deco and Rafa Marquez all remain sidelined through injury, while Andres Iniesta and Gabi Milito miss out through suspension.

Giovani Dos Santos and Ronaldinho are both doubtful and will have late fitness tests, but Gianluca Zambrotta is back from a ban.

At the other end of the table, Valladolid could only draw at home to Osasuna last weekend and sit above the relegation zone on goal difference only.

Despite the team's lowly position, coach Jose Luis Mendilibar believes Valladolid can secure an improbable victory at the Nou Camp.

"We have a chance of winning. If we do our job correctly and have a bit of luck, we can win in the Nou Camp," he said.

Valladolid were thrashed 7-0 by Real Madrid in February, but Mendilibar believes his side will do better against Barcelona.

"The teams are different. Barcelona like to have the ball and make you run after it. I also think we have learnt from that defeat," he said.

Inaki Bea is definitely out of Sunday's game, while Jose Antonio Garcia Calvo is doubtful.
