Cumbrians continue upward climb

Carlisle moved into the second automatic promotion place in League One with a 3-0 win away to 10-man Leyton Orient on Saturday.Danny Graham opened the scoring when he headed Chris Lumsdon's cross past Orient goalkeeper Glenn Morris in the 17th minute.

David Raven doubled the Cumbrians' advantage in the 32nd minute, while the home side had John Melligan sent off for a foul on Evan Horwood a minute later.

Grant Smith made the points safe for John Ward's side when he drilled a low shot home from 18 yards out four minutes after the break.

Two goals from Nicky Forster kept Brighton's promotion hopes alive as they came from behind and ran out 2-1 winners at home to Swindon.

Craig Easton (8) gave the Robins the lead, but Forster (12, 68) hit back to give the Seagulls the points which left them a point outside the play-off zone.

Nicky Maynard struck twice to help Crewe boost their hopes of avoiding relegation as the Railwayman clinched a 3-1 home win over Hartlepool.
