Gray mystified by penalty call

Sat 22 Mar, 01:15 PM

Northampton boss Stuart Gray was left mystified by Rob Styles' penalty decision which gave Nottingham Forest the chance to win the game 2-1.The decision - given following goalkeeper Mark Bunn's challenge on Nathan Tyson - brought the Cobblers' unbeaten six-match run to an end.

Gray said: "I was amazed when I saw the referee give the penalty and I found it very hard to accept.

"Mark Bunn got his hands on the ball and I know from the reaction of my players that it wasn't a penalty. But all credit to Forest; in the second half they've defended well and caught us on the break.

"Our performance wasn't anywhere near the one we put in against Swansea. We didn't win the midfield battle and it wasn't until late on that we got into good areas.

"It's disappointing to lose at home but we've been on a great run and we've got to pick ourselves up from defeat."
