Ben Wright grabbed a late double but it was mere consolation for Lincoln who were thrashed 5-2 away at Barnet in League Two on Saturday. The Imps started strongly at Underhill but Adam Birchall broke the deadlock against the run of play after half an hour.

Albert Adomah doubled the lead just eight minutes later from the spot after he had been clattered by Lee Ridley inside the 18-yard box.

With just seconds of the first half remaining, Birchall turned provider for Anthony Thomas to fire a low shot into the far corner.

Birchall headed his second of the game in the 46th minute following an inch-perfect cross from Nicky Nicolau before Max Porter fired home his first goal for the club.

Wright netted two goals in the space of five minutes for Lincoln but it was too little too late.
