Millers and Bantams share spoils

Sat 22 Mar, 08:15 PM

Crisis-club Rotherham had to settle for a 1-1 draw at home to Bradford on Saturday as the MIllers' play-off hopes suffered another blow.Rotherham had most of the chances and the best of the play in the first 45 minutes. Chris O'Grady had the ball in the net after 33 minutes but he was ruled offside and the Millers had a good shout for a penalty turned down when Peter Holmes appeared to be tripped.

Jamie Yates also should have done better than shoot into the side-netting when he was put through by O'Grady.

Bradford's main threat came from set-pieces. Eddie Johnson got in a header from Paul Heckingbottom's free-kick and then fired a free-kick high over the crossbar before Barry Conlon brought a good save from Rotherham goalkeeper Andy Warrington just before the break.

Within three minutes of the restart the visitors were in front when Tom Penford fed Joe Colbeck wide on the right and he cut in to hit a shot across goal and in-off the left-hand upright.

But City's defence was caught flat-footed after 64 minutes when Rotherham equalised. Marc Joseph swung in a free-kick from the left and O'Grady stole in on the far side to fire home.

Worse was to follow for City five minutes later when Omar Daley received a straight red card following an off-the-ball clash with Graham Coughlan but despite relentless pressure by the home side City's 10 men held out.
