A wonder goal from midfielder Stefan Oakes was enough to give Wycombe three vital League Two points in a 1-0 win at Morecambe on Saturday.Oakes' special effort was easily the highlight of a drab afternoon at Christie Park which saw both sides struggle to find any rhythm.
The former Leicester midfielder struck after 36 minutes with a 30-yard free-kick which flew into the top left-hand corner of Scott Davies' goal to earn the Chairboys the double over the Shrimps.
Oakes almost provided Wycombe with the opening goal after 19 minutes with a free-kick which Chris Herd headed against the post.
Morecambe's best effort came in the very first minute with a Matt Blinkhorn shot that grazed the foot of the left-hand post. In the second half they struggled to make any headway against a resolute Wycombe defence, though Jim Bentley and Carl Baker could have done better from half chances.
From there, Wycombe always looked the more dangerous with John Sutton and Leon Knight both coming close in the final minutes.
