Terriers edge five-goal thriller

Sat 22 Mar, 07:15 PM

Michael Collins fired a superb late winner from 20 yards to give battling Huddersfield a 3-2 win over Bristol Rovers at the Memorial Stadium.Josh Klein-Davies had marked his first start for Rovers by putting them ahead from close range after 20 minutes. But James Berrett was left unmarked to shoot the Terriers level seven minutes before the break.

Chris Lines restored Rovers' lead with an angled shot three minutes into the second half only for Huddersfield to bounce back again as Chris Brandon equalised with a low drive 20 minutes from time.

Collins then picked his spot with a sweetly-struck left-footed effort to settle the outcome and it was a goal worthy of winning any game.

Rovers almost saved it at the death when Craig Disley's header was brilliantly saved by Matt Glennon and substitute Andy Williams put the rebound against the crossbar.

It was a bad day for the home side, whose play-off hopes now look to be finished.
