Tilson: United deserved to win

Sat 22 Mar, 04:00 PM

Southend United boss Steve Tilson was left wondering what might have been after his side drew 1-1 at home to league leaders Swansea City.Hal Robson-Kanu's third goal in three games cancelled out a Jason Scotland penalty to earn a draw for the Shrimpers amid difficult conditions at Roots Hall.

The result leaves Tilson's side sitting in fifth place in League Two but the Shrimpers boss was adamant his players deserved the win.

He said: "I'm a little disappointed because I think we had enough chances to nick it. The lads are a little bit disappointed not to have got the three points but it could have gone either way.

"It was tough out there because there were two sides who wanted to play football and the conditions spoiled it, but it takes us a point closer to what we want to achieve this season which is a place in the play-offs."
