Miami Heat forward Udonis Haslem has had surgery on his ankle and will be sidelined for the rest of the season.

Haslem, 27, had the 90-minute operation to remove a large bone spur in his left ankle and will be in a walking boot and then on crutches before starting his rehabilitation.

A 6-foot-8 five-year NBA veteran, averaging 12 points and nine rebounds this season, Haslem is expected to return to full basketball activity in mid-May.

The Heat have the worst record in the NBA at 12-55.
