Doig wants Cobblers to kick on

Tue 22 Apr, 03:41 PM

Fit-again Northampton captain Chris Doig admits the Cobblers have "exceeded expectations" this term but has targeted even better next season.Doig completed his second game back in the win over Oldham last weekend after five months out with hamstring problems and believes that manager Stuart Gray could steer the club to a play-off challenge next season.

He said: "The lads have been fantastic this season and the team has exceeded a lot of expectations.

"The squad has perhaps lacked that little bit of depth when we've picked up injuries and maybe we've lacked that little bit of extra quality at times.

"But hopefully we'll add to the squad in the summer and that will then allow us to push on next season."
