Defender Martin Demichelis has pleaded with his club Bayern Munich to allow him to represent Argentina in August's Olympic Games in Beijing.
Argentina under-23 coach Sergio Batista has named Demichelis as one of three permitted overage players alongside Juan Roman Riquelme and Javier Mascherano for the Olympic Football Tournament.
And the 27-year-old Demichelis insists he will do his utmost to take part.
"I will do everything to go to the Games," Demichelis told Radio del Plata.
"Firstly, I will seek for my participation to be authorised. If not, I'll see what else I can do.
"I was truly sad when I was cut out from the World Cup squad (in 2006).
"I've been unable to play important events for the national team and I would be deeply affected again if I am out of the Olympic Games. Bayern Munich must understand that."
