Life has a funny habit of repeating itself and if the latest rumours are to be believed, David Beckham could be going home.
Beckham left Tottenham Hotspur's academy to sign for Manchester United on his 14th birthday and the rest, as they say, is history.
The North London club are reportedly preparing a bid to steal the record-breaking England midfielder from under the noses of Milan when his loan at the San Siro expires in the summer.
The Sun points to Spurs boss Harry Redknapp's fondness for resurrecting the careers of veteran players.
It also argues that Tottenham's ability to put the LA Galaxy man squarely in the vision of England manager Fabio Capello ahead of the 2010 World Cup will sway the former Real Madrid man.
GS doubts it though. Any move to Spurs will only happen if Milan decide not to sign him as it is unlikely that he would choose Spurs over the Rossoneri.
Milan are by far the bigger club, will be playing in the Champions League next season and the slower pace in Italy suits Beckham's game perfectly.
They are also unlikely to let him go after a series of impressive performances helped fire Milan to second in Serie A, not to mention the inevitable spike in shirt sales.
Furthemore, Capello is more than happy that Beckham is plying his trade at his beloved Milan, not least because it keeps him away from the distracting media hysteria he faces in England - and saves his legs from a shoeing at the hands of Emanuel Pogatetz.
The same paper's claim that Manchester City boss Mark Hughes is looking to offload captain Richard Dunne to Sunderland makes several assumptions.
The first is that Hughes will still be at Eastlands in the summer, with City's owners yet to prove they share the same patient, long-term vision as Villa supremo Randy Lerner.
The second is that Ireland defender Dunne would want to drop from City to Sunderland, as there are several bigger clubs that can offer a higher level of football than Ricky Sbragia's side, not least Villa.
The third is that Sunderland will be able to afford him - while they are not in the bottom three, they are anything but safe and it is highly unlikely they will shell out £5 million and £35,000 a week if they are in the Championship.
Sunderland have also been linked with relegation-doomed West Brom duo Jonathan Greening and James Morrison, although Bordeaux striker Marouane Chamakh has ruled himself out of a move to the Stadium of Light. He would rather join Tottenham.
The Daily Express reckons that the latest injury to Craig Bellamy could force City boss Hughes to think twice about a big-money bid for Blackburn Rovers striker Roque Santa Cruz.
This may not initially make sense as having another striker would both cover and compliment Bellamy. But the reasoning is that two injury-prone forwards are worse than one.
Paraguay striker Santa Cruz has only played eight league games so far this season after a series of injuries, although his public insistence that he will leave for a bigger club in the summer appears to have had something to do with his absence.
The former Bayern Munich man has also been linked with Liverpool and Tottenham, who will probably lose one or both of Darren Bent and Roman Pavlyuchenko in the summer.
Aston Villa may be forced to sign a new defender with Martin Laursen's career under threat.
Laursen has been a key influence in Villa's return to the upper echelons of the league and it is no coincidence that their slump came after his knee injury recurred.
The Dane could be set for surgery that would rule him out for nine months and, at the age of 31, he is considering hanging up his boots.
Fulham stopper Brede Hangeland and Milan's on-loan Arsenal defender Philippe Senderos could be brought in, while the aforementioned Dunne would be an experienced option.
Blackburn and Wigan are both considering bids in the region of £4m for Bristol City midfielder Marvin Elliott.
The 24-year-old former Millwall player can also play at right-back and would be the ideal signing for Rovers, for whom there are doubts over the long-term fitness of cruciate ligament injury-victim Brett Emerton.
Wigan, who are guaranteed a place in the Premier League and are still in with a shot at European football, would be the more prestigious option for the Londoner, although the likelihood is that boss Steve Bruce would look for a bigger-name signing should winger Antonio Valencia be sold to Real Madrid, Manchester United or Chelsea.

no. 26, Spuds with the "big boys" c*%p!
1) They don't deserve to be
2) They will still be behind the likes of Everton, Villa, Man City, possibly Wigan, and the likes of Bolton, Fulham, West Ham, and Pompey will be there or thereabouts too!
Wait for the mega hostile atmosphere, when dirty Harry takes his Tottenumb - with Jermain "one Manager" Defoe, and Joe Turncoat Jordan, back to Pompey for the first time! Booooooooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Also, we'll see how long dirty Harry stays at Tottenumb, if his start to next season is not much better than Martin Jol or Juande Ramos! or if another "big" club catch his fancy after sacking their Manager, and dangling a huge salary package Harry's way.....

Why the Hell's Kitchen would Becks want 2 go back 2 Tottenumb? The earlier commentor was right, Tottenumb aren't likely 2 b in Europe next season - they don't deserve 2 b on this season's overall performance, and the apparent attitudes of their Chairman and dirty Harry. AC Milan are a far bigger club than them, in more ways than one, easily. Whyever give up the more relaxed pace of Italian footie - and the mediterranean lifestyle, for the more rigorous pace of the prem, the constant press hype etc, and a boring, hypocritical north London club like Hotspuds?
Becks 4 Milano!......
35 small club lol what a moron you are,one of the biggest clubs on the planet, where do you watch football, most epl clubs are bigger than all but a few euro teams, just
like the world cup the best teams are not all in the euro comps euro football over rated and over paid, no glory just money.and celtic first scotish team to win euro cup 1967

1) Becks career does not need resurrecting but that third rate outfit !!
2) they are not as yet going to be playing european football next year which i feel is important
3) AC Milan are a far far bigger and better club with far better players around him
so I reckon he will go back to AC myself
recruitmentch: calm down calm down. It's "Gossip Shop" for christ sake. It sound like you need so stress relief. Go home and give Theresa one good and proper and have a nice bottle of Chianti.
Oh please. This is a marketing ploy to make Spurs some money on the side.
Just as with LA Galaxy and Milan, he is nothing but a pretty face that sells them products. He was a player, now he's just a walking advertisement.
Sorry, but true..
#29. You have a really good point and your right, the fact is niether team last night were good enough to control the game, thats why niether team could hold a lead for more than 10-15 minutes. Liverpool's way of playing is caotic but effective. You might not like what I write next but I think United have tried the Italian way of playing this year and although they are top they don't score the capacity of goals they did last year.
ahhahahahahahahahahhhhhhhhahahahahahahahahahh
clispyduck: Why would beckham leave a club playing in the champions league, for a team that has been fighting relegation most of this season? As for other London clubs. Chelsea? He isn't needed there. Arsenal? Not needed there. Fulham? pretty much the same as Spurs. Also let me remind you that he is under contract with the galaxy. his current deal with Milan is a loan agreement. If Milan exercise their right to buy him, then he will 100% stay. If however they don't, then he will head back there at least until november.
Hello, fans!I'm an amazing tall girl from UK. I like F1 very much. I have a blog on
-- Seekingtall Co m -- I like to share the funny things of F1 with other fans, esp handsome guys~~
#29 i accept what your saying is correct however you missed 1 vital point.... while i dont know the line ups from last nights game i can pretty much guarantee that the majority of players on that pitch last night werent coached in england and if they were definately werent trained by english coaches. its a shame mark hughes might not be signing santa cruz cause i think he'd be a great player for them (i'm a blackburn fan who will say anything to get rid of this arrogant over rated player) look at his stats he's only had 2 good seasons in his career 1 last year and the other was before he signed for bayern where frankly he couldnt score, 8 goals in 1 season was his best return in the german league
beckham should go to tottenham
NOW
oops
