Scunthorpe manager Nigel Adkins has revealed he wants to operate with a small squad in League One next season.Adkins, whose relegated side finished second from bottom in the Championship this term, admitted the Iron have been carrying too many squad members which has had a "negative" effect on team morale.
"We will have a small squad next season, probably around 18 of 19 players, for the simple reason that this is what we started off with this season," Adkins told BBC Radio Humberside.
"We purposefully kept it small because we wanted everyone to be involved by playing.
"The injuries and suspensions did kick in then and that resulted - come the January transfer window - in us having too many players in the building, which had a negative effect on ourselves."
