Leyton Orient manager Martin Ling has held transfer talks with Northampton striker Adebayo Akinfenwa who is almost out of contract. The 26-year-old former Swansea frontman will be out of contract at Sixfields in the summer and would provide Ling with the physical presence he needs in attack next season.
The Cobblers are keen to keep Akinfenwa but the London-raised player, who made two substitute appearances for Orient as a trialist four years ago, could favour a move back to Brisbane Road.
"I have spoken to Martin Ling and he has told me he wants me to be a member of his squad, although I've also had talks with Northampton," Akinfenwa told the Leyton Guardian.
"I had a good end to the season there, so it is a case of weighing up things and talking with my family and working out what is best.
"Of course I'm very grateful for the opportunity (Northampton boss) Stuart Gray gave me last season so I will be talking with him and the chairman again, but on the other hand I'm a London boy and there is a chance to come home if I join Orient."
