Out-of-contract Mansfield midfielder Lee Bell has completed his move to Macclesfield - citing a desire to remain in the Football League. The 25-year-old's one-year contract that he signed when joining the Stags from Burton last summer expired at the end of the season, when Mansfield were relegated from League Two.
"I hope everyone involved at Mansfield will come back stronger but for me I was determined to play my football in the league and that is why I am delighted to sign for Macclesfield," Bell told the Silkmen's official website.
"Last season was a big disappointment for everyone at Mansfield. We always felt we would have what it took to get away from the bottom two places, but in the end we just didn't get the results our performances should have merited.
"It was especially disappointing on a personal level as I missed most of the run-in with a knock to the knee that took longer than expected to right itself.
"I only returned to the side for the last game of the season at Dagenham, by which time we had been relegated."
