Chester boss targets striker signing

Thu 22 May, 04:30 PM

Chester boss Simon Davies insists a striker remains top of his "wanted list" as he looks to strengthen his attacking options this summer. The Blues had a £30,000 bid rejected for Vauxhall Motors forward Paul Taylor earlier this week, but Davies remains in the hunt for a potent goal scorer and is keen to strengthen his overall squad after helping the club stave off the threat of relegation this season.

"I need a goalkeeper now that Phil Palethorpe has gone to provide competition for John Danby, as well as a central defender, a couple of midfielders, and a striker," Davies told the Chester Evening Leader.

"The players I am wanting will strengthen the whole spine of the team.

"A striker is at the top of my wanted list. I need someone to play alongside John Murphy, although nobody should rule out the possibility of Chris Holroyd or Paul McManus starting the season."
