Sheffield United have appointed Michael Farnan as executive director in a bid to further develop the club's global brand.The Blades own top Chinese club Chengdu Blades and Hungarian outfit Ferencvaros and have partnerships in Australia and South America, while Farnan has worked with Manchester United and formula 1 team Jordan.
United Plc chairman Kevin McCabe said: "Michael will be responsible for leading our commercial activities both nationally and internationally.
"He will be seeking to generate further commercial revenue and maximise returns from our worldwide family of sporting interests.
"He has a first class background in international and national sports marketing and his appointment demonstrates our commitment to continue to grow the business both on and off the field, home and abroad."
Meanwhile, McCabe has this week increased his stake in the club, buying just over 18 million shares priced at 10p each. His family now own 74.7% of the club's shares.
