Laws will show summer patience

Thu 22 May, 06:00 PM

Sheffield Wednesday boss Brian Laws has targeted three players he wants to bring to Hillsborough over the summer. The Owls manager, who has let seven players go since the club secured their Championship status in their last game of the season, has met with the board of directors and been given a budget for team strengthening.

Laws said: "The meeting with the board was positive in that now we've released seven players, it allows me to strengthen and bring in two or three new players.

"We've had to do some pruning. Some players had not been in the team and it was inevitable that there were going to be some casualties.

"The board have tried to make money available and we know which players we want. We have approached them and we'll be talking to them again.

"But everyone knows that it isn't straightforward these days. There's no quick-fix and patience is needed."
