Ridsdale doubtful on star pair

Thu 22 May, 04:15 PM

Cardiff chairman Peter Ridsdale admits it is "highly unlikely" both Robbie Fowler and Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink will be at Ninian Park next term. The Bluebirds have an option to extend the one-year deals signed by the veteran strike duo last summer for a further season and talks are currently ongoing.

But he told www.icwales.co.uk: "If I was a betting man, I would say it's highly unlikely the two of them will be with us next year."

Fowler, 33, scored six times for City but failed to feature in 2008 because of a hip injury but has now returned to full fitness.

Hasselbaink, 36, was part of the side beaten 1-0 in Saturday's FA Cup final and netted nine times for Dave Jones' side over the course of the campaign.
